Dawanda

Once upon a time, grandmas used to spend their days knitting socks and giving them to their grandsons. Today, grandmas have a better option: selling their production online..!

If you are wondering what I am talking about, please visit www.dawanda.com. The page -targeted at those fascinated by handmade stuff-, offers an online marketplace where buyers and sellers meet to exchange very particular goods. From jewelry to miniature sponge cakes, the chances you will see someone else using the same product you buy are rather limited. "Uniqueness" is Dawanda's motto, and judging by the pictures I have seen, they seem to deliver on that.

The question is: will grandmas be able to leverage this new opportunity? Or will Dawanda -and other online marketplaces- remain the realm of the young and tech-savvy?

How can you be so mean. I found nice stuff on it like a pink ballet skirt for dogs...

Do people actually buy this stuff?

Oh that's a cute idea... but is it only for Germany?
